Lottie's Girl Fund (LGF) is focused on providing financial assistance to support female filmmakers to produce short films and school counselors of color returning to graduate school.
In the spirit of Lottie S. Redd who gave to her community and family, LGF wants to support women with that same spirit in the areas of film and education.
We are seeking support for our initiative to support school counselors. They are the HEARTBEAT of their buildings.
Blu Topaz, Inc and IN THE LOOP Program of Success in association with Lottie’s Girl Fund are spearheading the School Counselor Heartbeat Week Campaign 2024. The campaign is the brainchild of 2016 DC School Counselor of the Year, Dr. Carletta S. Hurt. The campaign is focused on bringing more awareness to the work of the school counselors and celebrating their work they do for their students and greater school community during National School Counseling Week.
This year National School Counseling Week is February 5 - 9, 2024. The special week is sponsored by the American School Counselor Association (ASCA) and honoring school counselors provides recognition for school counselors who “implement comprehensive school counseling programs, a vital part of the educational process for all students as they meet the challenges of the 21st century.”
The School Counselor Heartbeat campaign is to provide school counselors across the country with special gift boxes filled with treats and a special note letting them know how much they are appreciated, and their work is valued. The goal is to deliver at least 50 boxes.
Boxes will be sent via Priority US Mail and delivered during National School Counselor’s Week.
Attention: School counselors complete the form to reserve your box today! Deadline to enter to win is January 5, 2024.
Contributions are needed to cover the postage ($20)/box.
Sponsors to contribute items to include in the boxes. Sponsors must donate a minimum of 15 items with a minimum value of $10.
All contributions of $25 or more will receive a thank you note from the school counselor who directly benefits from their contribution.
All contributors will be recognized in our booklet and on this website.
All sponsors will be listed in a directory that will be distributed to over 5,000 school counselors across the globe. In partnership with several associations, the booklet will be made available during National School Counseling Week and listed on this website for download.
Contributions can be sent via PayPal (media@blutopazinc.com), CashApp ($CarlettaHurt), or mail a check/money order (payable to IN THE LOOP Program of Success)

School Counselors are highly trained educators who work to support every student in their building. Additionally, school counselors provide resources to the entire school community including parents, teachers, and administrators. Their work is recognized annually during the first week of February which is only a tiny reflection of the amount of work they do daily.
